  • medical manipulation table 
  • disinfection table
  • infusion solution in a vial as prescribed by a doctor with a volume of 200 or 400 ml
  • emergency chemical disinfectant for disinfection of ampoules and vials
  • infusion system
  • sterile dressings in individual packaging (balls 2 pcs.)
  • anatomical tweezers and scissors in a container with a disinfectant solution
  • containers for disinfection with working solution of a chemical disinfectant:
    • "Disinfection of dressings and PPE"
  • medical waste containers:
    • "Empty vials"
    • "Packaging"
  • medical tripod for intravenous infusions
  • anatomical tweezers in a container with a disinfectant solution (to work with medical waste containers)
  • treatment list
  • marker or pen

Clinical situation:

• the patient was prescribed an additional intravenous infusion of the solution (second vial)the patient was prescribed an additional intravenous infusion of the solution (second vial)

Preparatory stage:

  • compare:
    •  the name and dose of drugs on ampoules and vials with an entry in the treatment list
  •  Check:
    •  the integrity of the infusion vial, appearance, expiration date
    •  the integrity of the packaging of sterile dressings
  •  indicate on the vial with the infusion solution the date and time of hiding the vial' the patient's surname and initials
  • perform hygienic hand antiseptics, put on gloves

Main stage:

  • open the package with the balls
  • prepare (treat) the second vial with infusion solution (see "Withdrawing of medicine from a vial");
  • secure the prepared second vial in the second socket of the vial holder;
  • stop the flow of the solution from the first (empty) vial;
  • remove the sampling needle from the first (empty) vial;
  • insert the sampling needle of the system through the stopper of the second (full) vial;
  • open the roller clip slightly and adjust the speed of drug administration;
  • if there is no air channel in the system design, use a large diameter needle (with a pink cannula color) to install (puncture the plug) as an air duct;

Final stage:

  • remove the empty vial from the vial holder and place it in the container "Empty vials"
  • place the packaging from the balls in a container "Packaging"
  • remove the gloves and place them in the container "Disinfection of dressings and PPE"
  • wash your hands
  • monitor the patient's condition during the infusion
