REQUIREMENTS TO ACADEMIC COMPETENCES

IN THE DISCIPLINE "FORENTIC MEDICINE"


THE STUDENT SHOULD:

BE ABLE TO:

- apply basic scientific and theoretical knowledge to solve theoretical and practical problems;

- work independently;

- study, improve their qualifications throughout their life;

- apply individual methods of examining objects of forensic medical examination;

- establish the fact of death and establish the time of death when examining a corpse at the scene of the incident (discovery); describe bodily injuries (when examining a corpse or examining a living person);

- identify material evidence subject to forensic medical examination during the inspection of the scene of the incident and conduct their expert assessment;

- prevent and assess the most typical professional and official offenses of medical workers provided for by the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus;

- prevent and assess the consequences of violations of deontological principles of relationships between doctor and patient, doctor and head of the institution, etc.

- Have the quality of citizenship.


BE ABLE TO:

- apply knowledge of the structure and function of the human body in norm and pathology, features of the population level of life organization;

- use the skills of professional behavior (deontology), know and comply with the norms of medical ethics;

- organize their work on a scientific basis using computer technologies for information processing;

- document the results of preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitative medical care;

- interact with specialists of related specialties;

- work with legal literature and know the basics of labor legislation;

- know and use in work regulatory and legal documentation governing the activities of the health care system;

- criticism and self-criticism.


KNOW:

- procedural foundations of forensic medical examination in the Republic of Belarus, fundamentals of civil and criminal law, rights and obligations of an expert in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Belarus;

- objects of forensic medical examinations;

- methods of establishing the limitation period of death, the concept of "bodily injuries", classification of bodily injuries in accordance with the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus; the concept of "harm to health";

- principles of drawing up a forensic medical diagnosis, requirements for expert conclusions;

- categories, type and kind of death;

- the concept of "brain death"; regulatory provisions for ascertaining death;

- probable signs of death, the concept of "survival" of tissues (supravital reactions), early and late cadaveric changes;

- causes of sudden death of adults and children:

- features of examination of corpses of newborns;

- mechanism of formation and morphology of injuries in various types of violent death;

- circumstances of the onset of criminal liability of medical workers in connection with the performance of their official and professional duties;


MASTER:

- methods of conducting forensic medical examination to establish the nature and severity of bodily injuries;

- methods of collecting autopsy material for laboratory research (chemical, biological, forensic);

- methods of certifying death;

- methods of examining a corpse at the place of its discovery (incident);

- methods of describing bodily injuries;

- methods of examining victims, suspects in cases of sexual crimes.
