Surgical antiseptic hand treatment
Equipment required to perform this skill:
-sink with running water and tap with elbow mixer
-wall mounted pump with neutral liquid soap
-wall-mounted elbow pump with antiseptic (Septocide P-plus)
-sterilization box with sterile small gauze napkins (disposable sterile wipes in individual packaging)
-water tap with elbow mixer
-container for collection of medical waste «Disinfection of dressing material and ITS»;
-wall clock
Skill Performance Procedure:
Preliminary Stage:

Prepare your hands:
-
Trim nails if necessary.

Remove all jewelry from hands and wrists.

Prepare hands and forearms for processing (e.g., put on appropriate clothing, roll up sleeves).

Perform hygienic hand washing (refer to the practical skill "Hygienic Hand Washing").
Main Stage:

Turn on the tap with running water using your elbow.

Wet hands and forearms, from the fingertips to the elbow area.

Apply a portion of liquid soap from the wall-mounted dispenser by pressing the dispenser lever with the elbow of one hand, while holding the palm of the other hand under the elbow-operated dispenser.

Wash hands with soap for at least 2 minutes, from the fingertips to the elbow area.

Rinse off the soap under running water, ensuring the water runs off towards the elbows.

Dry hands with sterile gauze wipes from the bin, starting from the fingertips to the elbow area (use one napkin per hand). Dispose of the used wipes in the medical waste container.

Apply the first portion of antiseptic (Septotsid R-plus) from the wall-mounted dispenser by pressing the dispenser lever with the elbow of one hand, while holding the palm of the other hand under the elbow-operated dispenser.

Treat hands and forearms up to the elbows by rubbing the antiseptic into the skin, not allowing it to dry.

Apply the second portion of antiseptic (Septotsid R-plus) from the wall-mounted dispenser by pressing the dispenser lever with the elbow of one hand, while holding the palm of the other hand under the elbow-operated dispenser.

Treat hands and forearms up to the middle third by rubbing the antiseptic into the skin, not allowing it to dry.

Apply the third portion of antiseptic (Septotsid R-plus) from the wall-mounted dispenser by pressing the dispenser lever with the elbow of one hand, while holding the palm of the other hand under the elbow-operated dispenser.

Treat only the hands and wrists according to the European standard EN 1500 (refer to the practical skill "Hygienic Hand Washing").
Final Stage:

Put on a sterile gown and sterile gloves.

Proceed with the work.
